Admissions Process

STEP 1

Please consider making an appointment to visit OR attend our Prospective Parent Open House on Wednesday, February 1st, from 5:30 P.M. – 7:30 P.M. We would very much like to meet with parents and provide you with an opportunity to tour our school. Contact the Admissions Office at admissions@charlestoncatholic-crw.org or (304)342-8415.

The visit is not required before submitting your application, but it is required prior to admission. In addition to our Prospective Parent Open House, we will offer our 5th Grade Visit Day for rising 6th graders on Friday, February 10th, from 9:00 A.M. – 12:00 Noon. Rising 7th-10th graders should make an appointment for an after school tour with the Admissions Office.

STEP 2

Submit the online application by clicking on this link. Applying is easy using our online application and provides parents a tool for tracking the status of their admission after their application has been submitted.

To begin the Online Application process, Create an Account, using the online application link above. Then log in to your account and Create A New Student Application for your child. You will then have the flexibility to log in and out of your account and access your open application. Be sure to hit submit!

After submitting the application, you will be able to track your admissions status at the school by logging in to your account. There, you will be able to monitor when the school receives supplemental application forms.

STEP 3

Complete the admissions assessment. To schedule your appointment, contact the Admissions Office at admissions@charlestoncatholic-crw.org or (304)342-8415.

Please note that it is the responsibility of the family to submit academic records, test scores, recommendations, and health and immunization records to Charleston Catholic High School. Applications will not be evaluated by the Admissions Committee until all of these items are submitted.

Admission Policy

The following policies have been adopted to clearly articulate how enrollment decisions will be determined. If the application is received by the deadline and student meets the school’s admissions criteria, student will be further considered for enrollment.  Students will be selected and placed in the school based on the maximum capacity of classrooms as set by the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston according to the following categories in order:

  1. Currently enrolled students in good standing.
  2. Siblings of students currently enrolled.
  3. Students currently enrolled and in good standing at another school in the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston.
  4. Catholic children of participating parishioners who are siblings or children of a graduate of the School.
  5. Children of parishioners who are registered, contributing and participating members of the School Parish (or if a central school, one of the participating parishes).*
  6. Children of parishioners who are registered, contributing, and participating members at another Catholic parish within the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston.*
  7. Non-Catholic students (Non-Catholic students will be enrolled or added to a waiting list in the order of applications received).

* Families can obtain a form from their parish that is to be signed by the pastor and submitted to the school  at application.

Wait List

  • Students not selected for admission due to class size limits, will automatically be placed on a wait list.
  • If an opening becomes available, students on the wait list will be given priority for those openings in the same order of preference as detailed in the Admission Eligibility protocols.
  • The wait list will exist for the current academic year only.
  • The wait list will be established after the enrollment process for the upcoming school year has ended and will terminate when that school year ends.

Transfer Students

Please note that the Admissions Committee only considers applications for students transferring midyear if they are newly moving to the area. Contact the Admissions Office at admissions@charlestoncatholic-crw.org or (304)342-8415 if you have any questions.

Tuition Information (2023-2024 School Year)

Pre-Paid Tuition Policy

Charleston Catholic High School requires that total tuition charges for the school year must be paid on or before June 15. Late charges of $1.00 per day after June 15 will be added to the total tuition bill or subtracted from any credit on record in the school for the upcoming school year. For new students registering between June 15 and August 11, the total tuition is due within two weeks of acceptance into the school.

Tuition Loan Program

For our families’ convenience, CCHS offers the “Tuition Loan Program” through Peoples Bank. These loans, while arranged through the school, are direct loans made by the bank to school families. The interest rate is 5.5% and the bank will grant loans for all or part of the tuition and fees. The loan is repaid directly to Peoples Bank in ten monthly installments.

Parents wishing to arrange loans must contact Brent Moles at Peoples Bank, by phone at (304)340-3000, or in-person at Peoples Bank, 201 Pennsylvania Ave. N, Charleston, WV, by June 2, 2023, to pick up the application and arrange for submission and signing of the loan documents.

Tuition Assistance

The Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston offers need-based tuition assistance to Catholic families having children enrolled in Catholic schools. Applications for this aid must be submitted online at https://online.factsmgt.com/aid by April 30, 2023. For the first time, the second round of awards will be open to all families. Applications must be submitted online by July 31, 2023.

Catholic families needing financial aid are encouraged to meet with their pastors to request tuition assistance from their parishes.
